Welcome to the EERI-UBC Student Chapter!

The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), University of British Columbia student chapter’s mission is to promote earthquake engineering research activities within the student community and provide the opportunity for the development of leadership and interpersonal skills. The student chapter envisages creating a platform for students to collaborate, share, and exchange knowledge in an effort to reduce earthquake risk. This student chapter is affiliated to Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing earthquake risk, based out of Oakland, California.
EERI BC is local branch of EERI that hosts events related to reducing earthquake risk in BC.
The EERI UBC Student chapter strives to provide opportunities to the students of the university for holistic professional development. We organize a plethora of events, including but not limited to seminar series, career panel discussions, alumni mixers, socials, research expo, etc. Our members also engage in EERI’s various initiatives, such as the Virtual Earthquake Reconnaissance Team (VERT), Student Leadership Council (SLC), etc., with active participation.
